ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭ

ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಲು ಪ್ರೊ.ಸುಂದರ ಕರೆ

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಯುವ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು ಆಯಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಳವಾದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಖ್ಯಾತ ಪುರಾತತ್ವಜ್ಞ ಪ್ರೊ.ಅ.ಸುಂದರ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಅವರು ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ದಿ ಮಿಥಿಕ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಮೂರು ದಿನಗಳ ೨೭ನೇ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾರೋಪ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಬಲ್ಲ ಯುವಕರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇದೆ. ಇಂದಿನ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಯುವ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ದೇಶಾಭಿಮಾನ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಡುವ ಮನೋಭಾವ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ವಿಷಾದಿಸಿದ ಅವರು ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಬಹಳ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಈಗ ನಾವು ದೇಶದ ಕೇವಲ ಶೇ.೨೦ರಿಂದ ೨೫ರಷ್ಟು ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮಾತ್ರ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಹಲವಾರು ದೋಷಗಳಿವೆ. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಆತ್ಮ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ದರ್ಶನವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶದ ನಿಜವಾದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ರಚನೆಯಾಗಬೇಕಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದರು.
ತಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಯುವ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರನ್ನೇ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿಟ್ಟು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು ಯುವ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು ವಿಷಯದ ತಜ್ಞರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಲಹೆ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು, ಪರಿಣಿತರು ಯುವ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ನೀಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕಿವಿ ಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ದೇಶದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಗತಿ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ವಿಷಾದಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಿಥಿಕ್ ಸೊಸೈಟಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ವಿ.ನಾಗರಾಜ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಆಧುನಿಕ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ-ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಉಪಯೋಗದಿಂದ ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯತ್ತ ಗಮನ ಹರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಲ್ಲೂ ಇದರ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯ ತರುವ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರ ಮೇಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡಾ.ದೇವರಕೊಂಡಾರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ೪೫ ವ ರ್ಷದೊಳಗಿನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು-ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರಿಗೆ ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಕಮ್ಮಟ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ವಿನಂತಿಸಿದರು.
ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಷ್ಟು ಶಿಲ್ಪ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಲ್ಲೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಪಂಚಕ್ಕೆ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ತನ್ನ ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯೋನ್ಮುಖವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಸರ್ವಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್.ಕೆ.ಜೋಷಿ, ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.  ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಕಮಲಾನೆಹರು ಮಹಿಳಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕ ಡಾ.ಬಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹೆಗಡೆ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ವಿಜಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಪ್ರೊ.ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸಮೂರ್ತಿ, ಹಂಪಿಯ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪದ್ಮಜಾ ದೇಸಾಯಿ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅನಿಸಿಕೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಡಾ.ದೇವರಾಜಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದರು.

ಭಾರತದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರಾದ ಕೋಳುವೈಲ್ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. ೮-೬-೧೯೩೫ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇರಳದ ಫಾಲ್ಘಾಟ್‌ನ ಉಪಗ್ರಾಮ ಕಲ್ಪಾತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ಇವರದು ಸುಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಮಾಧ್ವ ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣ ಮನೆತನ. ಮೂಲತಃ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯವರು. ಕೋಳುವೈಲ್ ಎಂಬುದು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸುರತ್ಕಲ್ ಪಾವಂಜೆ ಬಳಿಯ ಒಂದು ಕುಗ್ರಾಮ. ತಂದೆ ಕೊ.ಲ. ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳು, ತಾಯಿ ಕಮಲಾಬಾಯಿ ಅವರು. ಇವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಡಹುಟ್ಟಿದವರು ಒಬ್ಬಳೇ ಸಹೋದರಿ, ನಾಲ್ವರು ಅಣ್ಣತಮ್ಮಂದಿರು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಪ್ರೇಮಾ ಅವರು. ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸುಫಲಾ, ಶಾಂತಲಾ, ಮೇಖಲಾ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಮೂವರು ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳು. 

ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳು ಫಾಲ್ಘಾಟಿನ ವಿಕ್ಟೋರಿಯಾ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಪಂಡಿತರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ನಂತರ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕುಂಭಕೋಣಕ್ಕೆ ವರ್ಗವಾಯಿತು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಮೊದಲ ಮೂರು ತರಗತಿಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ೧೯೪೪ ರ ಸುಮಾರಿ ನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮದ್ರಾಸಿನ ಪ್ರೆಸಿಡೆನ್ಸಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೆ ವರ್ಗವಾಯಿತು. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಕಾರ್ಪೊರೇಷನ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮತ್ತು ಐದನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಗಳ ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಆರನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯಿಂದ ಹಿಂದೂ ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಿತು. ಆರನೆಯ ತರಗತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಏಳನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಲುಗು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಎಂಟನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯಿಂದ ಹತ್ತನೆಯ ತರಗತಿಯ ವರೆಗೂ ತಮಿಳು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಓದು ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಿತು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಯುವ ಅವಕಾಶ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ತಾಯಿ ಕಮಲಾಬಾಯಿ ಅವರು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಮಾಡಿಸಿದರು. ಮನೆಯೆ ಮೊದಲ ಪಾಠಶಾಲೆ ಜನನಿ ತಾನೇ ಮೊದಲ ಗುರುವು ಎಂಬ ಕವನದ ಸಾಲು ಈ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಸಾರ್ಥಕವಾದುದು. ಈ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಿಕೆಯೇ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮರವಾಯಿತು. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಓದು ಮುಂದೆ ಅವರು ಬಹು ಭಾಷಾವಿದರಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲು ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಯಿತು. ಮದ್ರಾಸಿನ ಮೈಲಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಟರ್‌ಮೀಡಿಯಟ್ (=ಪಿ.ಯುಸಿ) ವ್ಯಾಸಂಗ ನಡಸಿದರು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸೇರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಆಸೆಯಿದ್ದು ಇಂಟರ್‌ಮೀಡಿಯಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಅಂಕಗಳು ಬಾರದೆ ಪ್ರೆಸಿಡೆನ್ಸಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಎಂ.ಎ ಪದವಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದರು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ರ‍್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಪಡೆದು ಮೂರು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ೨೬-೯-೧೯೫೬ ರಲ್ಲಿ ತಮಿಳುಭಾಷೆಯ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞರಾಗಿ ಅಂದು ಉದಕಮಂಡಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಕೇಂದ್ರಶಾಸನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಡಿ.ಸಿ. ಸರ್ಕಾರ್, ಜಿ.ಎಸ್. ಗಾಯಿ, ಕೆ.ಜಿ. ಕೃಷ್ಣನ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ಖ್ಯಾತ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ದೊರೆಯಿತು. ತಮಿಳುಭಾಷೆಯ ಶಾಸನ ಸಹಾಯಕ ರೆಂದು ನೇಮಕಗೊಂಡರೂ ಮುಂದೆ ಕನ್ನಡಭಾಷೆಯ ಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞರೆಂದು ಬದಲಾವಣೆಯಾದುದು ಒಂದು ವಿಶೇಷ. ೧೯೬೬ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕ ಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞ, ೧೯೭೬ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧೀಕ್ಷಕ ಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞ, ೧೯೮೧ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಸನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಶಾಸನತಜ್ಞ, ೧೯೮೪ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಸನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ‍್ಯ ನಿರ‍್ವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಮೇ ೧೯೯೨ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಪುರಾತತ್ತ್ವ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಜಂಟಿಮಹಾನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾಗಿ ನೇಮಕಗೊಂಡು ೧೯೯೩ ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿವೃತ್ತರಾದರು. ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಂತರ ೧೯೯೮-೨೦೦೬ ರ ವರೆಗೂ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಪ್ರಾಚ್ಯವಿದ್ಯಾ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಲಯದ ಗೌರವ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ೧೧-೯-೨೦೧೨ ರಿಂದ ಶಾಸನಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾಗಿ ಗೌರವ ಪಡೆದು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೇವೆ ಯನ್ನು ನಡಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅನೇಕ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಗೌರವಗಳು ಸಂದಿವೆ. ವಿದೇಶಗಳಿಗೂ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿಚಾರವಿನಿಮಯ ನಡಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವುಗಳ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಳಗೆ ಪಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಡಲಾಗಿದೆ [ಕೆ.ವಿ. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ತಯಾರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೇ ಯಥಾವತ್ತಾಗಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಅಂಶಗಳು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಿರಬಹುದಾದ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯಿದೆ].

ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಪ್ರಾಚ್ಯವಿದ್ಯಾ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾಲಯದ ಗೌರವ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಟ್ಟಡವನ್ನು ಸುಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಡಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದರು. ಸರ್ಕಾರದಿಂದ ಹಣವನ್ನು ಮಂಜೂರಾತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತಮ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡಸಿದರು. ಇದರಂತೆಯೇ Epigraphical Society of India  ಮತ್ತು Place Names Society of India
 ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಡಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಇವುಗಳೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಘ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ನಿಕಟ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು.

ಶಾಸನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಅಪಾರವಾದುದು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ಕೃತಿಗಳು ಕಡಮೆ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರೂ ಗುಣ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಮಹತ್ತ್ವಪೂರ್ಣವಾದವುಗಳೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು. ಇವುಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾಗಿ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ನಡಸ ಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿರಿದಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಒಂದೆರಡು ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ. ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಕೃತಿಯು ೧೯೬೩-೬೫ ರವರೆಗೆ ಜಿ.ಎಸ್. ದೀಕ್ಷಿತರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಕೊಂಡ ಪಿ.ಎಚ್.ಡಿ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದ ಫಲ. ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಆಧಾರದಿಂದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಿತವಾಗಿ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದೇ ಕೃತಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿದೆ. ಬಾದಾಮಿ ಚಲುಕ್ಯರ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಕೃತಿ ವಿನೂತನ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಚಿತವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಬಾದಾಮಿ ಚಲುಕ್ಯರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ವಸ್ತುನಿಷ್ಠವಾಗಿ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಿಸಿರುವ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಕೃತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಕರ್ಣಾಟಕ ಶಾಸನ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷೆ ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಹೊಸ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣುತ್ತೇವೆ. ತಲಕಾಡು ಗಂಗರ ೧೫೯ ಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಎಪಿಗ್ರಾಫಿಯಾ ಇಂಡಿಕಾ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈಚೆಗೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಭಾಷೆಗಳ ಶಾಸನ ನಿಘಂಟನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಮತ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಲೇಖನಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೂತನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಕಾಣುತ್ತೇವೆ.

ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಶಾಸನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಹಂಪಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಶಾಸನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಕೃತಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿರುವ ದೀರ್ಘವಾದ ಸಂದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ (ನೋಡಿ : ಶಾಸನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ, ಸಂಪುಟ-೩, ಸಂಚಿಕೆ-೨, ಜುಲೈ-ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ೨೦೦೬, ಪುಟ ೧೪೮-೧೭೨). ಇದನ್ನು ಅಗತ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಗಮನಿಸಬೇಕು. ಸಿಂಧೂ ಲಿಪಿಯ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ರಾಯರಂತೆಯೇ ಶೋಧನೆ ನಡಸಿ ತಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಾಸನಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಅಂಶಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಆರ್ಥಿಕಾಂಶಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಬರಹಗಳು ಬಹಳ ಕಡಮೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಬರಹಗಳು ಬಹುಪಾಲು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಶಾಸನಗಳು ಈ ವಿಷಯಗಳಿಗೇ ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಪುನರ್‌ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಣದ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿರುವವರು ರಮೇಶ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಇಬ್ಬರೋ, ಮೂವರೋ ಇರಬಹುದು. ಇದನ್ನು ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಅನೇಕ ಬರಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಶಾಸನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಪುರಾತತ್ತ್ವೀಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಭ್ಯಸಿಸಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸಂಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಿದವರಲ್ಲಿ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬರು. ಇಂತಹ ಹಲವು ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಬರಹಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅಯೋಧ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗ ಬಾಬರೀ ಮಸೀದಿಯೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುವ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರಕಿದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಶಾಸನ ವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾಗಿ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗುಲ್ಬರ್ಗಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸನ್ನತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆತ ಅಶೋಕನ ಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಓದುವಿಕೆ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ರೀತಿಯದ್ದಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇಂತಹ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರ ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಮಾನದಂಡವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಅನೇಕ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರ ಅಭಿನಂದನ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಮರಣ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಸಂಪಾದಕರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ‍್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಉತ್ತಮವಾಗಿ ಸಂಪಾದಿತಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಬರಹಗಳು ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಸಂಕಲನಗೊಂಡು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ.

ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದೇಶ ವಿದೇಶಗಳ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರ ನಿಕಟ ಪರಿಚಯವಿದ್ದಿತು. ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ರಿತ್ತಿ, ಬಾ.ರಾ. ಗೋಪಾಲ, ನೋಬುರು ಕರಾಷಿಮಾ, ವೈ. ಸುಬ್ಬರಾಯುಲು ಮುಂತಾದ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರೊಡನೆ ನಿಕಟ ಸ್ನೇಹವಿತ್ತು. ಪುರಾತತ್ತ್ವ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಾದ ಡಾ.ಎಸ್. ನಾಗರಾಜು ಅವರಿಗೂ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೯೬೦ ರ ಸುಮಾರಿನಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಕಟವಾದ ಸ್ನೇಹ. ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಲೆಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲ. ದಿನ, ವಾರ, ತಿಂಗಳುಗಳೇ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗಿವೆ, ಈ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ.ಕೆ. ಗುರುರಾಜರಾಯರು ಸೇರಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಎಸ್. ನಾಗರಾಜು ಅವರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಾಣ್ಯತಜ್ಞ ಡಾ. ಎ.ವಿ. ನರಸಿಂಹಮೂರ‍್ತಿ ಅವರಿಗೂ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೂ ೧೯೫೭ರ ಸುಮಾರಿನಿಂದಲೇ ನಿಕಟ ಸ್ನೇಹ. ನರಸಿಂಹಮೂರ‍್ತಿಗಳು ಸೇಉಣರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಪಿ ಎಚ್. ಡಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗ ಉದಕಮಂಡಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಶಾಸನ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಯನಕ್ಕೆಂದು ತೆರಳಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಸಮಯದಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೂ ನರಸಿಂಹಮೂರ‍್ತಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಸತತವಾಗಿದ್ದಿತು. ನರಸಿಂಹಮೂರ‍್ತಿಗಳು ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರು. ಅವರಿಗಿದ್ದ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆಗೆ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ೫೦ ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳ ನ್ನಾದರೂ ಬರೆಯಬೇಕಿತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ಕಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಸದಾ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯವಾದುದು. ಅನೇಕ ಮಂದಿ ಅವರ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದ ಲಾಭ ಪಡೆದವರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕೃತ ಲೇಖಕನೂ ಒಬ್ಬನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೂ ನನಗೂ ನಿಕಟವಾದ ಪರಿಚಯ ಇದ್ದಿತು. ೨೪-೩-೨೦೧೨ ರಂದುANCIENT SCIENCES AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF INDIA  ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸಮಾರಂಭವೊಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯ ಬಳಿಯೇ ಇರುವAcharya Bangalore -School  ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಆ ದಿನ ಡಾ. ಎ.ವಿ. ನರಸಿಂಹಮೂರ‍್ತಿಗಳಿಗೂ, ಡಾ. ಕೆ. ವಿ. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ Honorary Fellowship ಅನ್ನು ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ನಂತರ ನಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಆಗಮಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಕಿರು ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರು ತಮಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗಿದ್ದ ಪುಸ್ತಕವೊಂದು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವುದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿ ಅದರ ಕ್ಸೆರಾಕ್ಸ್ ಪ್ರತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗದನ್ನು ನಂತರ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ  ತುಂಬ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಅನೇಕ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳೇ ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಕ್ಸೆರಾಕ್ಸ್ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವರು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಅವರ ಕೃತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡು ಬಂದ ಹಲವು ದೋಷಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಪಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೆ. ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿನ ಮುದ್ರಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಿಪಡಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲನ ಕರೆ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರ ನಡುವೆ ಅನೇಕ ಶಾಸನಗಳು, ಅವುಗಳ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು ಮುಂತಾದ ವಿಷಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳೇ ಚರ್ಚೆಯ ವಿಷಯ ಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಶಾಸನ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿನ ನನ್ನ ಬರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ತುಂಬಾ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ನನ್ನ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯ ವಿನೂತನ ಆಯಾಮಗಳ ಅಗತ್ಯದ ನನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಅನೇಕ ಸಭೆ, ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹೊಗಳಿ, ಅವುಗಳ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುವ ಚಿಹ್ನೆಗಳು : ಅವುಗಳ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು ಎಂಬ ಲೇಖನವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಬರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೆ (ಈ ಲೇಖನ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ದರ್ಶನ ಸಂಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪಾದಕರ ವಿಪರೀತ ತಿದ್ದುಪಾಡುಗಳಿಂದ ತೀರಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿದೆ). ಅದನ್ನು ಅವರು ತುಂಬ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಮೂಲಾಗ್ರವಾಗಿ ಅವಲೋಕಿಸಿ ಅನೇಕ ಸಲಹೆ, ಸೂಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಂತೆ ಅಖಂಡ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಲೇಖನ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಕೂಡ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಈಚೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಶಾಸನೋಕ್ತ ಕಾಲಗಣನೆಯ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು, ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು, ಅರ್ಥೈಸುವ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿನ ತೊಡಕುಗಳು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಅಂಶಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ರಮೇಶ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಲವಾರು ದಿನಗಳು, ಗಂಟೆಗಟ್ಟಳೆ ಚರ್ಚೆಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಲು ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ ಸಲಹೆ ನೆರವಾಯಿತು. ತೇದಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗ ಅನುಸರಿಸುತ್ತಿ ರುವ ವಿಧಾನದ ಬಗೆಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಅಸಮ್ಮತಿಯನ್ನು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿ, ನನ್ನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಿಂದ ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡ ವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು, ಅದರ ಹಂತ ಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಮ್ಮತಿಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸಿ "ಈ ವಿಧಾನ ಸಮರ್ಪಕ ಎಂಬುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಶಯಗಳಿಲ್ಲವಾದರೂ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕೆಲಸ ವಿಪರೀತ ಕತ್ತೆಚಾಕರಿ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಅಂಶಗಳ ಗಾಢವಾದ ತಿಳಿವಳಿಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯ. ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲ ಸಂಶೋಧಕರು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಜನರಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಮೂಲಶಾಸನಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುವ ಜನ ಎಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ" ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು. ಇಂದು ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದರೆ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಧಾರಾಳ ವಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪಬಹುದು. ಶಾಸನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸರೀತಿಯ ಆಯಾಮವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದರೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುವವರೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಂದಿ ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆಯಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ ಶಾಸನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮತೀಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನ, ಪೂರ್ವಾಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ವಸ್ತುನಿಷ್ಠತೆ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ನಲುಗಿದೆ. ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪುಟಗಳ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯ ವೈಖರಿಯ ಬಗೆಗೆ ನಾನು ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪುಟಗಳ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಹೇಳದೆ ಅನೇಕ ಗೊಂದಲಗಳಾಗಿವೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಅವರ ಬಳಿ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕುದಾದ ಪಠ್ಯವನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತಾರವಾಗಿ ಪಠ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಪಾಠಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇಂತಹ ಗೊಂದಲಗಳನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪಾದನೆ, ಅವುಗಳ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳು. ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳು, ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ವಿಧಿ ವಿಧಾನಗಳ ಬಗೆಗೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಕೆಲಸ ಇದುವರೆಗೂ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ಇದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ವಿಷಾದಕರ ಅಂಶ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕೃತ ಲೇಖಕನು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದರ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ ಹೊರಬೀಳುವ ಆಶಾಭಾವನೆಯಿದೆ !?. ಅವರು ನಿಧನರಾಗುವ ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ದೂರವಾಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಆನೇಕಲ್ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಮಾಯಸಂದ್ರ ಶಾಸನದ ಪರಿಷ್ಕೃತ ಪಾಠ ಎಂಬ ಲೇಖನವನ್ನು ಈ ಮೇಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಎಪಿಗ್ರಾಫಿಯಾ ಇಂಡಿಕಾ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅವರು ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟು ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಾದರಿ ಯನ್ನು ಬಲ್ಲವರ ಕೊರತೆ ಇದೆ. ನೀವು ಇದನ್ನು ರೂಢಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಇದನ್ನೇ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೂ ಶಾಸನ ಸಂಪಾದನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲಿಸಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ನಿಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಶಾಸನ ನಿಘಂಟಿನ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಇದೇ ನನಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ನಡೆದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಮಾತುಕತೆ. ೧೦-೭-೨೦೧೩, ಬುಧವಾರ ನಿಧನರಾದರು. ಶಾಸನಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಮಹಾನ್ ದಿಗ್ಗಜರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರನ್ನು ಆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿತು.


ಪ್ರಕೃತ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಕೆ. ವಿ. ರಮೇಶ ಅವರ ಬಗೆಗೆ ಕಿರಿದಾಗಿ ಪರಿಚಯಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅವರ ಬರಹಗಳ ಸೂಚಿಯನ್ನು ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ ಶೋಧಿಸಿ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ತಮಿಳು ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬರಹಗಳಿದ್ದು ಇವುಗಳ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಪಟ್ಟರೂ ತಿಳಿಯ ಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಶ್ವಕೋಶ, ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಷಯ ವಿಶ್ವಕೋಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರೆದ ಬರಹಗಳ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೆಲವು ಬರಹಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರದೇ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಅವು ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದ ಆಕರಗಳು ಯಾವುವು ಎಂಬ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೇ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ಪೂರ್ಣಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಸೂಚಿಯನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದೇ ಇದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ವಿಷಾದವಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಬರಹದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಕೆಲವು ಅರೆಕೊರೆಗಳೂ ಇರಬಹುದು. ಬಲ್ಲವರು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೇರ್ಪಡಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿ ವಿನಂತಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ.
